Project Description

This project consisted of 24 living units comprised of 12 duplexes and a common building which is communally used within the group.  All the services for the project are underground including two pad-mount transformers that feed two 800 Amp meter banks.

The building intention for the community is described as follows:

“Houses will be energy efficient and of modest size that considers the common house facilities available for all to use (e.g. storage, workshops, guest rooms, office space, large kitchen, dining and sitting area, teen’s area). Homes will be clustered like a village – creating a cohesive community by proximity. This leaves the majority of the land undeveloped left as a growing forest.”

The Nelson-cohousing project on Heddle Rd. has been a extremely enjoyable job for the Longbeach Electric crew.  We’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the members of the co-housing group.  We’d also like to thank the Go 2 Builders group as well.  Always a pleasure to work with for their high workmanship and job-site demeanour.
